DTV Conversion: VER Ready and Fully Compliant

June 8, 2009

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has recently made changes that can affect the operation of wireless microphones, in-ear monitors, IFB and wireless intercoms. What does this mean to you as a service provider to your client? Most wireless systems are built to operate in the VHF/UHF bands between 150MHz and 806MHz, or television channels 7 through 69. These systems are for use within the available RF between current analog and digital TV broadcast channels.

1. In June, 2009 the frequencies above 698MHz – Channels 52-69, or 698-806MHz – will no longer be available for use in the above-mentioned wireless systems.

2. The FCC has auctioned the 700MHz spectrum to large companies for use with equipment such as personal wireless devices.

3. For television, digital television signals (DTV) will be the only signals available; analog television signals will cease, and existing channels in the 52-69 range will shift down.

4. The frequency band still available for our wireless devices is called the “white space.” This is where the devices used in our industries will operate.

VER, in its continuing path of cutting-edge technology, will have an extremely limited and “special project” supply of any product above 698MHz after June, 2009. We are re-banding or replacing all of our wireless devices to comply with the FCC ruling and will continue to offer the best products and support in the industry.

We offer a quick, easy solution to your wireless challenges. Just ask, and the VER team will coordinate frequencies for your show and specify exactly what you need for a worry-free wireless set-up and show.
